couples therapy online

I offer online couples therapy for cross-cultural couples, those living outside their country of origin, and those seeking to overcome relational challenges. I help couples with everything from communication issues, outright conflict, or coparenting challenges; to real world oppression, sexual struggles, or issues of trust and attachment. We will explore how your respective upbringings, past experiences, communication styles, and emotional needs impact your dynamic. My goal is to help you bridge the gap between your worlds without losing your individual identities. I work with couples from neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ communities, and from a whole range of ethnic and faith backgrounds.

Therapy Journey

Our initial session is a chemistry check and a chance for me to gain a good understanding of what is going on in your couple. You can begin with a free 20-minute meeting, or a full-length paid session. It is up to you.

Couples therapy requires emotional investment. I ask for a 6-session commitment to get started – to allow space for the process to unfold. This includes at least one individual session per person where you might find it easier to express yourself frankly.

We explore how your different family and cultural backgrounds, relational experiences, emotional needs and bodily feelings affect your current relationship dynamics. Learning to accommodate difference and see each other's perspective is an important part of our work together.

Couples therapy is a deep process of mutual listening. It is also about shifting patterns of communication to create change and realign your connection. For some this might be about negotiating new ways of coexisting, for others the goal might be rebuilding trust or sexual or emotional intimacy

Every journey is unique. I adapt my approach to meet the specific needs and goals of your partnership over time.

How MUCH DOES IT COST?

I charge 140 euros for 80 minutes. I also offer longer sessions of one hour and 50 minutes (110 minutes) for 200 euros.

About

Meet Amy

I am a UK Chartered Psychologist and Psychotherapist with over seven years of clinical experience. In France, where I live, I am a certified psychopracticienne and am fully insured to practise. My practice is deeply rooted in understanding the whole person – not just the struggles they face today, but the unique history, family dynamics, and cultural contexts (including histories of oppression, injustice, and abuse) that have shaped them. I am trauma-informed, meaning I have wide research and practical experience of treating the effects of traumatic experience therapeutically. I work with a wide range of mental health diagnoses.

My Approach & Expertise

In my work with individuals, I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space to help you untangle complex emotional patterns, process personal trauma, and reclaim a sense of agency in your life. When working with couples, my goal is to help individuals truly hear one another, bridging the gap between contrasting experiences and perspectives to build deeper mutual understanding.

Academically, my doctoral research (New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling and Middlesex University, London, 2025) focused on the long-term impacts of adolescent sexual grooming, examining how these early experiences affect individuals well into adulthood. My thesis involved a deep analysis of theories and studies of relational and sexual trauma. I also have a BSc in Psychology (The Open University), recognised by the British Psychological Society, and an MA in Modern Languages (Cambridge University). In 2020-2021 I completed a certificate in systemic psychotherapy at Hestia, Barcelona, where I also did a two year internship.

Cross-Cultural & Expat Therapy

Having spent most of my adult life living as an expatriate in Russia, France, and Spain, I have a deep personal and professional interest in the unique challenges of a mobile life. I specialise in working with multicultural couples and individuals living outside their home countries – whether by choice or due to circumstances beyond their control, such as political upheaval. I have also supported individuals fleeing war zones and navigating life under oppressive regimes.

Language & Practice

While our therapeutic work will primarily take place in English, I am fluent in Russian and French, and speak conversational Spanish. We can easily draw upon these languages during our sessions whenever it helps to express nuances or make sense of complex feelings.
